Higher toll rates at the Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway (MCX) take effect today (March 18), according to an advisory from the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB).

The TRB has granted authorization to MCX Project Co. Inc. to implement the second tranche of a provisional toll hike ranging from P1 to P3.

The revised rates are set at P19 for Class 1 vehicles (cars, jeepneys, vans, or pickups), P39 for Class 2 (including buses and light trucks), and P58 for Class 3 vehicles (heavy and trailer trucks).

The toll adjustments, equivalent to increases of P1 for Class 1, P2 for Class 2, and P3 for Class 3 vehicles, mirror the initial toll adjustment enacted in November of the previous year.

The toll hike aligns with the periodic adjustments scheduled for 2018 and 2020, as approved by the TRB.

The notice to commence toll collection follows MCX Project’s fulfillment of publication requirements and the posting of a surety bond, as required by the TRB.

MCX is a four-kilometer expressway connecting the junction of Daang Reyna and Daang Hari in Las Piñas/Bacoor, Cavite, to the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) serves as both entry and exit points for the northbound and southbound lanes of SLEX. The route passes through the New Bilibid Prison Reservation.
