Victoria International Container Terminal (VICT) – the Australian cargo-handling operation of International Container Terminal Services, Inc.(ICTSI) –  recently signed a new agreement with local unions covering all of its operations until March 2029.

The agreement was finalized without any disruption to operations, reflecting the strong relationship between VICT and its workforce, and providing a solid platform for the future.

“This outcome demonstrates our commitment to working collaboratively with our people and unions. This agreement not only delivers meaningful benefits for employees, but also provides VICT with the flexibility needed to service our customers and meet the evolving industry demands,” said Bruno Porchietto, VICT chief executive officer, in a statement.

Some of the highlights of the agreement include:

  • Enhanced benefits and conditions of employees

  • Greater flexibility to align with customer and industry requirements

  • A secure industrial relations framework to support growth and innovation

By ensuring stability across VICT’s operations, the new agreement strengthens VICT’s ability to provide safe, reliable and efficient container handling services to customers while supporting the well-being and engagement of its people.

VICT said the pact “is a positive agreement for everyone involved,” giving VICT employees security and improved benefits.

At the same time, it provides the ICTSI subsidiary and its customers the continuity and certainty needed in today’s competitive supply chain environment.

VICT is Australia’s first fully automated container terminal and one of the most technologically advanced in the world. Located at Webb Dock East, the terminal delivers additional 1.4-million-TEU capacity to the Port of Melbourne to support growth.

VICT leverages world-class technologies to provide seamless operations and implement the highest standards of safety.
