  • International airfreight forwarders operating in the Philippines handled 2.6% less cargo in the first half of 2024
  • Consolidations declined 3.1% to 63.746 million kg

  • Nippon Express Philippines continued to handle the biggest volume, accounting for 15.87% of the total

International airfreight forwarders operating in the Philippines handled 2.6% less cargo in the first half of the year to 147.388 million kilograms from 151.328 million kg year-on-year, according to latest data from the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB).

Of the total, consolidations accounted for 43.25% or 63.746 million kg, down 3.1% from 65.78 million kg in the first half of 2023.

Representing 40.72% of the total was breakbulking, which grew 4.5% to 60.012 million kg 57.454 million kg.

Direct shipments declined 16% to 23.63 million kg from 28.089 million kg.

CAB noted 97.21% of accredited international airfreight forwarders submitted complete reports on volumes handled for the first half of the year compared to 95.85% for the first half of last year.

Nippon Express Philippines Corp. continued to handle the biggest volume, accounting for 15.87% of the total or 23.396 million kg.

Federal Express Pacific remained in second place with 10.647 million or a share of 7.22%. Also still in third place was Schenker Philippines, Inc. with a share of 5.26% or 7.746 million kg.

Climbing a spot higher to fourth place was U-Freight Phils., Inc. with 7.518 million kg or a share of 5.1%, followed by Kintetsu World Express (Phils.), Inc., which also placed one rank up to fifth with 7.166 million kg or a 4.86% share.

Dropping two ranks to sixth was DSV Air & Sea, Inc., accounting for 6.545 million kg or 4.44% of the total, while Yusen Logistics Philippines, Inc. ranked two places up to seventh with 6.007 million kg or a 4.08% share.

Kuehne + Nagel Inc. remained in eighth place with 5.149 million kg or a share of 3.49%. Falling two places to ninth was DHL Express (Phils.) Corp. with a 3.11% share or 4.589 million kg, while CEVA Logistics Phils., Inc. improved six places to 10th with 4.063 million kg or a 2.76 share.

From 11th to 20th places were:

  • UPS Delbros Transport, Inc. (3.695 million kg)
  • DHL Global Forwarding (Phils.), Inc. (3.663 million kg)
  • Expeditors Philippines, Inc. (3.480 million kg)
  • Trans-Global Consolidators Inc. (3.253 million kg)
  • UPS SCS (Philippines), Inc. (2.752 million kg)
  • Polaris Express Logistics Corp. (2.074 million kg)
  • AAI Worldwide Logistics Inc. (1.693 million kg)
  • Sincerity International Cargo Services Corp. (1.452 million kg)
  • Kornet Express, Inc. (1.450 million kg)
  • Morrison Express Philippines Inc. (1.439 million kg)

Completing CAB’s top 30 airfreight forwarders from 21st to 30th places were:

  • Royal Cargo Inc. (1.356 million kg)
