Isla Group’s recently inaugurated LPG hub in Batangas City is expected to serve more than two million households.
The company behind Solane LPG, Isla Group said the Isla Import Terminals, Inc. (IITI) is part of its commitment to providing a steady, reliable, and safe supply of LPG to millions of Filipino households and vital industries nationwide.
“Today marks a significant milestone for Isla. This terminal is far more than mere infrastructure; it is a powerful symbol of our commitment,” said Tomoaki Asai, CEO of Isla Group, at the hub’s inauguration in February. “This terminal represents our dedication to strengthening the nation’s energy supply, our pursuit of operational excellence, and our unwavering collaboration with the government, our partners, and the communities we are so proud to serve,” he said.
IITI is at the heart of Solane’s nationwide distribution network.
“This project has been on our drawing board for over ten years. Now that we finally have our own home, our hope is to use this facility to support the industry here in South Luzon and work proactively to improve logistics for all players,” said Jose Ricardo Delgado, president & CEO of Citadel Pacific Ltd. “Our partnership with Magsaysay Shipping to launch our own LPG tanker further enhances this, allowing us to deliver energy across the archipelago for the benefit of the entire industry and the delight of our customers.”
Delgado emphasized the terminal’s ability to handle cargo from Filipino-Japanese joint venture companies. This collaboration, exemplified by firms such as ITOCHU CORP., Isla’s strategic partner, strengthens the country’s energy security by opening supply routes outside the Persian Gulf, he said.
The IITI plant is equipped with world-class safety systems and cutting-edge monitoring technology. From modern storage infrastructure to enhanced control mechanisms, every feature is built to uphold the highest standards of security and environmental responsibility, lsla Group said.
“The project we inaugurate today represents exactly what we believe in. It is good for the Philippines by strengthening energy security, safety, and supply stability,” ITOCHU CORP. president, Energy & Chemicals Company, Masaya Tanaka Tanaka said. “The LPG received here in Batangas will serve as a vital starting point, from which energy will be transported to various regions across the archipelago. It is about empowering tomorrow and beyond.”
The event was attended by Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Kazuya Endo, Trade Secretary Maria Cristina Roque, Energy undersecretary Alessandro Sales, and Batangas City mayor Mario Vittorio A. Mariño.
