Isla Import Terminals, Inc. (IITI), inaugurated its liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) Import Terminal in Batangas City last week, the Department of Trade and Industry announced in a social media post.

The opening of the facility, located at the Tabangao Export Processing Zone, is considered a significant step in boosting the country’s energy supply chain.

“(M)odern energy infrastructure plays a vital role in supporting economic activity, stabilizing supply, and enhancing resilience across industries and communities. The new facility is expected to improve storage capacity and logistics efficiency, contributing to a more secure and dependable LPG supply for households and businesses,” Trade secretary Ma. Cristina Roque said.

With a storage capacity of 25,000 metric tons, it will receive propane and butane from Very Large Gas Carriers and serve as Isla’s primary storage and distribution hub for LPG. The imported products will be received through an existing jetty facility.

IITI is part of the Isla Group, supplier of the Solane LPG brand that is distributed across the Philippines. Isla Petroleum and Gas Corporation, a joint venture between Isla Petroleum & Energy (IP&E) and CREASIA Energy Holdings, operates across the supply chain from importation and trading to marketing and distribution.

The Isla Group recently expanded its logistics capabilities with the launch of the vessel PURE GRACE, a dedicated LPG carrier developed in partnership with Magsaysay Shipping and Logistics.
