MCC Transport Philippines Inc.’s (MCCP) biggest vessel, MV MCC Gigantes, handled 1,346 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) during its recent call at the Port of Manila, representing the highest volume loaded in a single call by a domestic vessel to date, the shipping line said in a statement.
MCC noted the milestone was achieved just six months after the inauguration last March of MCC Gigantes, currently the biggest containerized vessel in Philippine domestic trade.

MCC Gigantes has a nominal capacity of 1,544 TEUs, including 192 reefer slots, and has a length overall of 172 meters. It is bigger than MCCP’s two other vessels—MCC Palawan and MCC Batanes—each of which has a capacity of 1,100 TEUs.
MCC Gigantes operates under MCC’s D8A butterfly loop service, which provides weekly domestic services to major Philippine ports, including Manila, Cebu, Davao, Cagayan, General Santos, and newly- added ports of Bacolod and Iloilo.
MCC said the milestone underscores its commitment to meeting the growing needs of its customers.
“This achievement not only reflects MCCP’s dedication to operational excellence but also highlights its vital role in facilitating Philippine trade,” the carrier said.
It added that the milestone was made possible through the “exceptional support of Manila North Port, whose expertise in vessel planning, berthing, and operational execution was instrumental in this achievement.”
As a subsidiary of Danish shipping giant Maersk, MCCP said it remains committed to delivering world- class logistics services that contribute to the nation’s economic prosperity, reinforcing its position as a key player in Philippine logistics landscape.
MCCP is a joint venture between Sealand Maersk Asia Pte. Ltd., Mercantile Ocean Maritime Co (Fil) Inc. and 2GO Group Inc.
