The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) has authorized the collection of the provisionally approved toll fee hike for the Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway (MCX) beginning November 20.
The adjustment is part of a 2022 petition filed by the Ayala Corporation and the MCX Project Company as part of the expressway’s regular toll review process, according to TRB.
Under the newly-implemented rates, Class 1 vehicles such as cars and sports utility vehicles will pay an additional P3, bringing the total toll fee to P22.
Class 2 vehicles (buses and small trucks) will incur an increase of P4, setting their fee at P43. Class 3 vehicles (large trucks and trailers) will be charged an additional P7, resulting in a total fee of P65.
The TRB authorized the new toll fees after the investor and operator met all compliance requirements, including the publication of notices and posting of a surety bond.
The adjustment comes as part of Ayala Corporation’s commitment as a concessionaire to maintaining and improving the MCX infrastructure, according to TRB.
MCX is a four-kilometer expressway connecting the junction of Daang Reyna and Daang Hari in Las Piñas/Bacoor, Cavite, to the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) serves as both entry and exit points for the northbound and southbound lanes of SLEX. The route passes through the New Bilibid Prison Reservation.
