• Metro Manila remains under modified enhanced community quarantine until September 15
  • The nation’s capital region should have transitioned to the less stringent general community quarantine with granular lockdown on Sept 8
  • No guidelines for granular lockdown were issued as of Sept 7, prompting a stay of the MECQ

Metro Manila will remain under modified enhanced community quarantine until September 15 after government deferred implementation of the less strict general community quarantine with granular lockdown, which should have started on Sept 8.

“Metro Manila’s current risk classification as Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine shall be maintained until September 15, 2021, or until the pilot GCQ with Alert Level System is implemented, whichever comes first,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said on Sept 7.

The granular lockdown system under GCQ was to have been piloted in Metro Manila from Sept 8 except no guidelines were issued as of Sept 7, prompting a deferment.
