ID-10048454The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) was ready to issue 1,237 applications for truck franchises as of Oct 3, according to LTFRB executive assistant III Arnel Del Rio.

“We’re working this weekend and on Monday (Oct 6) to make sure we beat the deadline,” Del Rio told PortCalls on Oct 4.

LTFRB chairman Atty Winston Ginez told PortCalls separately that the agency is doing the best it can to process all franchise applications for trucks before their provisional authority to operate expires on October 17.

Earlier, Ginez said LTFRB received 33,000 franchise applications from truck operators. Of this, about 2,145 trucks have port-related operations.

It must be noted that some of the franchise applications cover applications for more than one truck unit.– Roumina Pablo
