Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) officially activated its comprehensive “Biyaheng Arangkada” program, shifting its entire expressway network into high gear to handle the anticipated surge of travelers this Holy Week.
The multi-regional assistance initiative—covering North Luzon Expressway, Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway, NLEX Connector, Cavite Toll Expressway, Cavite-Laguna Expressway, and Cebu’s Cebu–Cordova Link Expressway —will run from March 27 until April 6, 2026. The rollout is a collaborative effort with the Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) and the Philippine Reclamation Authority.
In a move to maximize lane availability, MPTC has enforced a strict suspension of all non-essential roadworks and maintenance activities. To further mitigate congestion, traffic teams are prepared to implement strategic counterflow measures at known bottlenecks if vehicle volume hits critical levels.
The company has also bolstered its “boots on the ground,” deploying additional field personnel to expedite the removal of stalled vehicles and manage minor incidents that frequently trigger long tailbacks during the Lenten break.
Highlighting this year’s safety campaign is the offer of free towing services to the nearest exit for Class 1 and Class 1M vehicles. This emergency lifeline will be operational 24/7 for the duration of the 11-day program.
Beyond towing, travelers can access a suite of roadside services:
• Emergency Care: Paramedic teams will be stationed at key intervals across the northern and southern corridors.
• Mechanical Help: Dedicated hubs at NLEX and SCTEX “Rest and Refuel” stations will provide basic mechanical repairs free of charge.
• Smart Travel: Motorists can access real-time traffic data and customer support via the MPT DriveHub app or the 1-35000 hotline.
• Modern Amenities: EV charging stations and free Wi-Fi remain available at select stops to support the growing number of electric vehicle users and connected travelers.
NLEX traffic analysts have mapped out the expected “danger zones” for congestion. Those heading North should prepare for heavy volume starting Wednesday afternoon (April 1) through the following Thursday afternoon.
For the return journey, Manila-bound traffic is expected to spike on Saturday and Sunday evenings, with a final heavy wave predicted for early Monday morning, April 6.
