Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) is granting toll-free passage for motorists traveling on select hours during Christmas and New Year.
The toll-free hours will apply to the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), NLEX Connector, Cavite Toll Expressway (CAVITEX), and Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) on December 24, from 10 pm to 6 am of December 25, and December 31, from 10 pm to 6 am of January 1.
Outside these hours, standard toll rates will be implemented.
According to MPTC chairman and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan, the initiative “would bring family members together on special days,” noting “family time is priceless, especially during the holidays. Offering toll-free access is our humble gift to families who wish to maximize their time together.”
The company expects a 10% increase in traffic volume, particularly on Dec. 24, Dec. 27–29, and Jan. 3–6.
To ensure safe and convenient travel, MPTC has reactivated its “Safe Trip Mo, Sagot Ko” motorist assistance program, which runs until Jan. 6, 2025.
This includes the deployment of 1,500 personnel comprising patrol officers, marshals, incident response teams, and other support staff.
Similarly, San Miguel Corp earlier announced its expressways, operated by SMC Infrastructure, will waive toll fees on the eve of Christmas and New Year.
In the Skyway System, NAIA Expressway, South Luzon Expressway, STAR Tollway, and Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway, toll fees will not be collected from 10:00 pm on December 24 to 6:00 am on Dec. 25, and again from 10:00 pm on Dec. 31 to 6:00 am on Jan. 1, 2025.
