A shipment of high-grade marijuana weighing 500 grams and worth P808,000 was confiscated in a controlled delivery operation at a warehouse in Pasay City conducted by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

The operation, undertaken with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and NAIA Inter-Agency Task Force, also led to the arrest of the claimant, a certain Kevin Dela Cruz y Quimpo. This is BOC-NAIA’s sixth drug bust since 2018.

The parcel was shipped by “Toynk Toys” from Markham, Canada and misdeclared as “4m kids labs remote control detector robot kit.”

An x-ray scan of the parcel yielded images of suspected dangerous drugs, which were confirmed to be high-grade marijuana after physical examination and tests were conducted by the Customs Anti-Illegal Drug Task Force and PDEA.

The parcel was immediately turned over to PDEA for proper disposition.

BOC said further investigation will be initiated to pin down all persons involved in the illegal importation and prosecute them for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 in relation to the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
