ID-100205694The Philippine Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will no longer require privately-owned trucks to file for an application for exemption to operate.

LTFRB chairman Winston Ginez said the agency will recall its memorandum circular no. 2014-11 dated July 15, which required owners of trucks, aluminum van and similar vehicles not for hire and exclusively used by their companies to file for an exemption to operate.

Ginez said the country’s economic managers on August 7 had initially agreed to “some set of common grounds or agreements” that included green-plated private trucks should apply for exemption.

“But even with this agreement, we listened to… reason, and with our meeting last Friday (August 8) with the Secretary of Transportation, and even in the deliberation of the (LTFRB) board this morning (August 12), we have come to the decision that we will recall, and we will no longer require the application for exemption of private trucks,” Ginez said.

The agency is waiting for clearance from Malacañang for the signing of a memorandum circular on the matter.
