The Ocean Alliance, the world’s largest operational agreement involving four global shipping liners, has presented the fourth evolution of its joint service offering, which will be launched in April 2020.

CMA CGM, COSCO SHIPPING, Evergreen and OOCL signed January 9 the launch of Ocean Alliance Day 4 Product, which will see the deployment of 325 container ships three months from now.

CMA CGM said the new product mix offers customers more port calls, more direct links and better transit times, thus reinforcing the alliance’s competitiveness.

The Day 4 Product will use 325 container ships, 112 of which will be operated by the CMA CGM group. It will have an estimated carrying capacity of around 3.8 million TEUs, and 38 services broken down as follows:

  • 19 services on the Transpacific trade
  • 7 services between Asia and Europe
  • 4 services between Asia and the Mediterranean
  • 2 Transatlantic services
  • 4 services between Asia and the Middle East
  • 2 Asia-Red Sea services

Comparatively, for last year’s joint offering, Ocean Alliance deployed 330 ships, with similarly 38 services and 3.8 million TEUs of carrying capacity.
