Box lines Hapag-Lloyd, OOCL, and CMA CGM have announced further rate hikes from early November.

Hapag-Lloyd will raise freight rates for the Far East-Europe westbound trade effective November 1 by US$500 per 20-foot-equivalent unit (TEU). The increase applies to all shipments from East Asia (excluding Japan) to all North Europe and Mediterranean (excluding South and West Africa) destinations.

The German box ship said the rate hike will allow it to continue offering “sustainable services” on the lane.

East Asia comprises Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Macao, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Brunei, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, and the Russian Pacific Ports of Vladivostok and Vostochny.

North Europe is comprised of the North West Continent, UK, Scandinavia, Baltic, and the European ports of Russia.

The Mediterranean consists of the West Mediterranean, East Mediterranean, Black Sea, and North Africa.

Hapag-Lloyd also said it is revising its Asia-South/West Africa Service (WSX). The revised WSX rotation will call Cotonou bi-weekly and Lome on a weekly basis starting October 27, 2012.

The revised port rotation will be Shanghai, Ningbo (Zhoushan), Xiamen, Shekou, Singapore, Port Kelang, Durban, Lome, Tema, Cotonou, Lagos, Durban, Port Kelang, Singapore, and back to Shanghai.

OOCL is likewise rolling out a revenue restoration program for the Asia-Europe westbound trade “to continue providing quality and sustainable services.”

From November 1, the freight rate for westbound traffic will increase by $525 per TEU, the Hong Kong-based shipping line said. The increase covers shipments from the Far East (including Japan), Indian Sub-Continent and Middle East to North Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Black Sea.

Meantime, CMA GGM is scheduled to hike its rates on the Asia-Europe sling from November 1. The new rates will cover services from all Asian ports (including Japan, Southeast Asia, and Bangladesh) to all Northern European ports (including UK and the full range from Portugal to Russia). They will also include Asia-West Med, Adriatic, East Med, Black Sea, and North Africa trades.

Rate increase is $500 per TEU for dry cargo, OOG’s, paying empties, break-bulk, and reefer.

The French liner will also boost rates from New Zealand to Asia effective November 1. Its ANZEX service to Asia will increase by $200 per TEU for dry cargo and $750 per TEU for reefer cargo.
