Ocean Network Express (ONE) has launched a reduced emissions shipping service known as ONE LEAF+.

The service offers customers the opportunity to actively manage their emissions and minimize environmental impact across the value chain, the company said in a news release.

ONE LEAF+ stands for Low Emission-Able Freight, with the + symbolizing the advancement that ONE anticipates from decarbonizing the supply chain.

The service offers multiple benefits to customers, including reduced carbon footprint wherein the company deploys regulation-compliant alternative fuels on designated vessels. This allows customers to reduce Scope 3 GHG emissions on their shipments.

The new service also allows added transparency, with customers receiving certifications showing the CO2e savings confirmed by an independent third-party verifier. This empowers them to track their progress in attaining their sustainability goals.

Gilbert Santos, senior vice president, Global Commercial Service Management at ONE, said, “We are fully committed to our target in achieving net zero GHG emissions by 2050.”

He added that the launch of ONE LEAF+ underscores their commitment “to sustainability and provides our customers with the tools and transparency they need to make informed choices about their Scope 3 GHG emissions.”

The initiatives to reach the company’s ambitious target of net zero emissions by 2050 are use of alternative fuels and carbon management as part of its roadmap.
