Singapore-based Ocean Network Express Pte. Ltd. (ONE) has appointed Till Ole Barrelet as chief executive officer (CEO) effective July 1, with his transition into the role to start May 1.
Barrelet, who will be CEO-designate by May 1, succeeds Jeremy Nixon, who has been at the helm of the giant carrier since it was formed in April 2018, ONE announced in a press release.
Barrelet has more than two decades of maritime and logistics experience, most recently serving as CEO of Emirates Shipping Line.
ONE said he bring into the role his deep expertise in ship owning, financing, container shipping, trade development across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Africa.
“After a comprehensive search, Till emerged as the clear choice to lead ONE’s next chapter. His proven track record, deep industry understanding, and strategic vision align perfectly with ONE’s growth ambitions, commitment to operational excellence and customer service,” said Jotaro Tamura, ONE representative director and chairman of the Board of Directors.
The entry of Barrelet takes place along with ONE’s transition to a new Executive Management Team structure comprising the CEO and seven representatives from across all divisions.
The new Executive Management Team, together with a further six regional leaders, will report into the CEO.
“This expanded leadership structure will facilitate closer collaboration across a global matrix structure at ONE,” the company said.
ONE assured customers and stakeholders that operations and services will not be affected by the planned seamless transition.

Nixon, meanwhile, will move on to become a senior advisor for the company. He led the management team that integrated three major Japanese carriers – K Line, MOL, and NYK – into ONE, which currently has an operating a fleet of over 260 vessels with capacity exceeding two million twenty-equivalent units.
“Jeremy’s contribution to Ocean Network Express has been extraordinary,” Tamura said. “As our founding CEO, Jeremy has helped build ONE from the ground up, establishing our corporate culture and market position. We are deeply grateful for his strong leadership and vision in creating a resilient, financially strong company.”
Nixon, for his part, said, “Leading ONE from Day One has been the defining chapter of my career.”
