Driver’s license renewal may now be made online through the newly-launched Online Driver’s License Renewal System (ODLRS).

The ODLRS can be accessed via eGovPH, a mobile application launched last year by the Department of Information and Communication Technology that aims to simplify transactions between the government and citizens.

The inclusion of the ODLRS in the eGovPH app is aimed at ensuring a fast and comfortable way of transaction even if the clients are in their homes or offices, Land Transportation Office (LTO) chief Vigor Mendoza II said in a statement.

“This is a better alternative for going to LTO offices since you don’t need to shell out money for transportation to our offices and don’t even need to queue in any license renewal offices,” Mendoza said.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said the establishment of the online renewal system will prevent the public from dealing with fixers, allowing motorists to renew their driver’s licenses without being physically present at the LTO office.

Dizon said that through the system, the five steps of the driver’s license renewal will be easily completed.

“It is all end to end online,” including payment, medical examination. There are two options to get the license: pickup at the nearest LTo office or delivery direct to one’s home.

In order to avail of the ODLRS, LTO clients need to download and install the eGovPh app in their smartphones, available in both the App Store and Google Play. A successful transaction means the driver’s license is already renewed, and an electronic driver’s license is automatically generated and can be viewed in the app.

Information and Communications Technology Secretary Henry Aguda said eGovPH-generated electronic or e-driver’s license is valid in case the physical card is unavailable, adding this will be cascaded among enforcement agencies for implementation.
