A parcel containing 533 grams of high-grade marijuana with an estimated street value of P852,000 was seized by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) at the Central Mail Exchange Center in Pasay City.

The parcel, misdeclared as “5 pcs. Clothes,” was shipped from California in the US to a certain Aura Talob from Davao City. A field test conducted by the Customs Anti-Illegal Drug Task Force and PDEA confirmed the seized goods were kush or high-grade marijuana.

The illegal drugs were turned over on September 9 to PDEA for further investigation and possible prosecution of individuals involved in the importation for violation of Republic Act (RA) No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and RA 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.

With the latest apprehension, BOC NAIA has intercepted 3,643 grams of kush on four separate occasions since January, with all the drugs misdeclared and coming from the US.
