PAL is exploring alternative routing for cargo shipments
Philippine Airlines (PAL) will suspend five international and domestic routes starting next month due to worsening global aviation conditions caused by the ongoing Middle East crisis and its ripple effects on fuel supply and flight operations.
“Philippine Airlines advises that adjustments are being made to some flight schedules due to changing conditions affecting global aviation,” PAL said in a flight advisory on March 26.
The suspensions affect two international routes and three domestic connections, hitting passengers in Cebu, Clark, and several provincial destinations. PAL said it is working to minimize disruption and will keep the affected routes under review as conditions evolve.
On the international side, the Cebu-Guam service operated by flights PR120 and PR121 will be suspended from April 16 until further notice. The Cebu-Ho Chi Minh City route, served by PR587 and PR588, will follow from April 19, also until further notice, with the exception of flights on May 1, 3, 24, and 31.
Three domestic routes are also being pulled. The Clark-Siargao service under PR2875 and PR2876 will halt from May 4; Cebu-Ozamiz flights PR2893 and PR2894 from May 5; and Cebu-Calbayog flights PR2668 and PR2669 from May 6 — all suspended until further notice.
The suspensions extend beyond passenger travel. Cargo operations on all five affected routes are likewise grounded, with PAL said to be engaging logistics partners to identify alternative routing options to sustain the movement of goods to and from the impacted destinations.
Passengers holding bookings on suspended flights are offered three remedies:
• penalty-free rebooking to alternative routings in the same cabin class with available space within 60 days;
• conversion of tickets into travel credits for future use; or
• a full refund in accordance with applicable policies.
