Philippine Airlines (PAL) ranked seventh most punctual airline in the Asia Pacific region for 2024, according to the latest review by aviation analytics firm Cirium.

The 2024 rank is a notch improvement from ranking eighth in 2023, and is the second year in a row that the airline is on the top 10 list for Asia Pacific airlines.

According to the 2024 Cirium On-Time Performance Review, PAL achieved an on-time arrival performance of 76.06%, covering over 112,000 flights across the Philippine flag carrier’s global network.

For January 2024 in particular, PAL clinched the top most punctual airline spot in Asia Pacific with an on-time performance of 86.85%.

The annual review defines on-time flight as a flight that arrives within 14:59 minutes of the scheduled gate arrival time. Airports measure punctuality as departing flights within 14:59 minutes of their scheduled departure time.

“We greatly appreciate the recognition for the monumental efforts of our employees, service partners and industry stakeholders in achieving this on-time performance milestone, which affirms the long-term investments we are making in enhancing reliability and efficiency in all our operations, and always at the highest level of safety in line with Philippine Airlines’ uncompromising safety culture,” PAL president and chief operating officer Capt. Stanley K. Ng said in a statement.

PAL said the seventh-place ranking puts its ahead of most Southeast Asian, Chinese, Korean and Australian carriers.

The top performing airlines in Asia Pacific last year were Japan Airlines, All Nippon Airways, Singapore Airlines, Air New Zealand, and Thai AirAsia.

Globally, Mexico flag carrier Aeromexico claimed the prestigious title of the most On-Time “Global Airline” in 2024, achieving an on-time performance rate of 86.70%. Saudi Arabia flag carrier Saudia followed closely as the runner-up with 86.35%, while Delta Air Lines secured third place with 83.46%.
