Philippine Airlines (PAL) has partnered with ViewQwest, a Singapore-based telco and managed security services provider, to upgrade its network and security infrastructure as part of its digital transformation roadmap.

The project will see the implementation of next-generation network and security technologies across PAL’s sites and branches in the Philippines.

Leveraging a managed service framework, the enhancements aim to ensure optimal service levels necessary for the seamless operation of the country’s oldest international airline.

The strategic upgrades are designed to enhance network performance and business resilience, forming a foundation for PAL’s ongoing digital transformation and innovation efforts, the flag carrier said in a statement.

The upgraded network and security infrastructure are expected to provide PAL with significant advantages. The consolidated network and security operations will enhance visibility, control, and security, allowing PAL’s IT teams to focus on core business operations and strategic initiatives with assured threat protection.

PAL anticipates that the integrated and simplified architecture, managed in partnership with ViewQwest, will deliver tangible cost benefits across its IT and network operations. This includes aggregated cost savings, minimal downtime with carrier redundancy, and expedited issue resolution by leveraging industry-leading managed services.

The partnership was formalized during an executive briefing and project team assembly at The Sheraton Manila. Attendees included senior technical and business leaders from both PAL and ViewQwest, alongside key stakeholders and project heads. The agreement was signed by PAL’s chief information officer, Aurea Patria Vidal, and vice president of IT operations, Angelique Tinsay, together with ViewQwest’s chief executive officer, Vignesa Moorthy, and chief operating officer, Jurist Francisco.

Moorthy said supporting PAL’s network and security transformation journey is a “great pride,” and the Singapore telco and MSSP “applaud their strategic foresight to construct a network that prioritizes security from the ground up as well as embracing managed services, freeing their teams to concentrate on driving business growth rather than managing infrastructure.”

“This strategic multi-year partnership cements ViewQwest’s presence in the Philippines and demonstrates our commitment to empower leading Philippine companies,” Moorthy added.

Vidal emphasized the importance of a “tailored approach” to the airline’s IT needs. “(We) are pleased to partner with ViewQwest whose proven track record of custom solutions perfectly (aligns) with our strategic principles. By embracing a cloud-based infrastructure that is secure by design, we can amplify collaboration, enable business agility, and ensure business continuity.”
