Philippine Airlines (PAL) will operate at the New Terminal One in John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York City by 2026, the Philippine flag carrier announced recently.

PAL is the first major Southeast Asian airline to commit operations at the $19-billion New Terminal One as it bolsters its presence in the US.

Set to open in phases starting in 2026, the New Terminal One will become the largest JFK terminal upon completion, spanning 2.6 million square feet. It will occupy the space of the current Terminal 1 and the former Terminals 2 and 3.

PAL operates thrice-weekly flights between Manila and New York from JFK’s existing Terminal 1.

PAL remains the only Philippine-based airline offering direct flights to the US, with destinations including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu, Guam, and, as of this month, Seattle. The Manila-Seattle route, which launched recently, serves as a gateway to Chicago, Las Vegas, Washington D.C., and other destinations via interline partner Alaska Airlines.

“This partnership with the JFK New Terminal One highlights an important innovation for Philippine Airlines. This alliance allows us to enhance our service and elevate the travel experience for our passengers traveling between Manila and New York, as well as nearby cities in New Jersey and Connecticut, and throughout the U.S. East Coast and Midwest,” PAL president and chief operating officer Capt. Stanley K. Ng said. “We stay committed to creating a seamless and memorable journey, reflecting our dedication to excellence in every flight.”

“We are delighted to welcome Philippine Airlines to our growing family of airlines at the New Terminal One,” The New Terminal One at JFK CEO Jennifer Aument said.

“Our teams share a strong commitment to customer experience, and we look forward to working together to elevate the curb-to-gate experience for Philippine Airlines customers flying to and from New York,” she added.

The New Terminal One will be a state-of-the-art, 23-gate terminal exclusively for international flights. It aims to set a global benchmark in design and service, with aspirations to achieve a Top 5 ranking from Skytrax and be recognized as one of the world’s premier airport terminals.
