Petrolift christened its new 51,000-barrel petroleum tanker, the M/T Petro Elise, one of the largest vessels of its kind in the Philippines.
The tanker is 95.95 meters long and 18.6 meters wide, with a depth of 10.20 meters. It features an engine fueled by very low sulfur fuel oil (VLSFO) and automotive diesel oil (ADO).
It also has a multi-grade cargo handling system, allowing for three grades of segregation of clean petroleum products, and a cargo remote liquid monitoring system with Wi-Fi access for shore personnel to view in real-time during loading and discharging operations, enabling safe and environment-friendly operations, Petrolift said in a statement.
M/T Petro Elise will distribute petroleum across ports throughout the Philippines.
The company said the introduction of M/T Petro Elise is a significant development, particularly in light of recent typhoons and maritime incidents.
A member of the Leonio Group of Companies, Petrolift is a key player in the local oil tanker industry, serving as a base fleet contractor for major oil companies like Shell Philippines and Petron.
The company pioneered internationally accredited ship management and operations in the Philippines, introducing the country’s first internationally classed oil tanker barges to meet strict charterer requirements. It has a partnership with Pilipinas Shell, serving as its base fleet contractor for more than three decades, the company said on its website.
Petrolift also has a partnership for more than a decade with Thoresen Thai Agencies Corp., a publicly listed, Thailand-based company engaged in international shipping, offshore services, agrochemical, and food & beverage products.
