The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) awarded six locator companies this December for their outstanding contribution to the nation’s economic growth.

They are Denso Ten Philippines Corporation, TDK Philippines Corporation, Qiagen Manila, Inc., International Wiring Systems (Phils.) Corp., Canon Business Machines (Philippines), Inc., and the Philippine Associated Smelting & Refining Corporation (PASAR).

“As PEZA celebrates the achievements of these outstanding locator companies, it reaffirms its commitment to fostering a thriving business environment that drives economic growth, innovation, and sustainability in the Philippines. Through these awards, PEZA reiterates the vital role of private sector partners in shaping the country’s progress, and together, they continue to build a brighter, more prosperous future for the nation,” PEZA director general Tereso Panga said in a statement.

The awarding ceremonies took place in the companies’ respective facilities, including the First Philippine Industrial Park in Batangas, Luisita Industrial Park in Tarlac, Laguna Technopark, Inc., and Cyber Sigma in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

This year’s PEZA Awarding Ceremony has recognized 13 outstanding locator companies. One other company is set to be awarded in January 2025.

Denso Ten Philippines Corp, TDK Philippines Corp, and Qiagen Manila, Inc. each received the Outstanding Community Projects Award in recognition of their Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives from education and health programs to environmental sustainability projects, PEZA said.

International Wiring Systems bagged the Outstanding Exporter Award, having exported goods worth over $300 million in 2023. Since its registration, the company has contributed over P3 billion in investments and provided employment to more than 10,000 Filipinos.

PEZA elevated to the Hall of Fame TDK Philippines for receiving the Outstanding Environmental Performance award from 2021 to 2023.

This was the second award received this year by TDK — which focuses on renewable energy and carbon neutrality — in recognition of its CSR and green initiatives, which not only address immediate needs of communities but also contribute to sustainable, long-term socio-economic and environmental progress, PEZA said.

Joining the list of Hall of Fame Awardees is Canon Business Machines, recognized as an Outstanding Exporter from 2021 to 2023. Since 2016, Canon has been a consistent recipient of various PEZA awards. This year, it contributed over $202.66 million in exports to the Philippine economy.

The Billionaire’s Award went to PASAR for the third time, with exports reaching $2.754 billion. PASAR is the largest copper smelting and refining company in the Philippines and the first in Southeast Asia. It is one of PEZA’s longest-standing registered export enterprises, with registration dating back to Export Processing Zone Authority (precursor of PEZA) days in 1982.
