The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) is adding new features to its online portal to further ease processes on exporting, customs, visa, and taxes in line with the government’s “Big Bold Reforms” strategy.
“For PEZA, these reforms are treated as operational imperatives. In fact, we go beyond our integrity pledge by embedding PEZA’s integrity framework in our operating systems,” PEZA director general Tereso Panga said in a statement following the program’s launch last week.
First to be rolled out this month is the Export Documentation under the Permit Management System (PMS) module of the PEZA One Portal System (PTOPS), which will include the Matrix of Exportable and Export Declaration.
Within the 1st semester, the PMS module of PTOPS will include the Ecozone Transfer System, bundled with e-LOA (Letter of Authority), to make the electronic permitting and monitoring systems seamless with the Bureau of Customs.
The agency is also aiming to launch within the first quarter the PEZA Visa Online System, in partnership with the Bureau of Immigration, “to make the issuance of PEZA visas for foreign nationals and their dependents faster, more predictable, and investor-friendly,” Panga said.
PEZA is also working with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) for the establishment of a dedicated Registered Business Enterprise (RBE) Taxpayer Service for ecozone locators.
Coordination is also ongoing with the Board of Investments for the implementation of the government’s CARS (Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy) and RACE (Revitalizing the Automotive Industry for Competitiveness Enhancement) programs, which are both intended to boost the vehicle manufacturing industry and related sectors.
“The economic team’s priority measures are concrete and high-impact — restoring funding support for the CARS Program to strengthen the automotive industry; allowing 14-day visa-free entry for Chinese tourists, our second-largest source market pre-pandemic; digitalizing the BIR audit system to enhance transparency and align with global tax standards; and establishing a single customs platform to significantly reduce red tape,” Panga said.

“Big reforms matter – and PEZA is ready to execute and partner with other government agencies to create synergies that ensure outcomes that create a better ecosystem for domestic and international investors within and outside of the ecozones,” he said.
