The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) has launched an academy aimed at improving the skills of its workforce as well as ecozone workers.

The PEZA Academy will serve as a training hub offering competency-based training programs tailored to meet the evolving needs of industries and investors.

At the launch on August 5, PEZA officials unveiled the academy’s logo, symbolizing the agency’s commitment to “fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.”

The academy will offer a variety of training programs, workshops, and resources, including modules on estate administration, project evaluation, policy analysis, investment promotions, and finance.

PEZA director general Tereso Panga in a statement emphasized the importance of maintaining a “culture of absolute honesty, integrity, and utmost service” to investors, stating, “The best practices and ease of doing business (EODB) climate PEZA set in place has been a model for other countries to follow.”

“It is important for us to empower and capacitate our employees towards continuous learning and development for our individual advancement and the growth of our organization—this is what the PEZA Academy aims to do. This is a significant step towards our continuous efforts to invest in the growth and development of our most valuable asset – our people,” Panga added.

PEZA’s personnel administrative and services group manager, Vivian Toledo, highlighted the academy’s role in enhancing employee skills and said it is crucial for “driving the nation’s economic prosperity” by offering various training programs, workshops, and resources.

The PEZA Academy has four sections: The Ecozone Champions Section, the Digital Literacy Section, and the Writers and Speakers Sections. The academy plans to expand its curriculum by introducing modules such as Estate Administration and Management, Project Evaluation, Policy Analysis and Formulation, Planning and Forecasting, Investment Promotions, Organization and Development, and Finance and Budgeting.

The PEZA Academy will also provide external training and capacity-building seminars for Registered Business Enterprises or RBEs to improve compliance with laws and regulations in ecozones. These programs will help locators stay updated on the latest innovations, emerging technologies, and global best business practices.
