The country’s domestic trade reached 60.19 million tons amounting to P3.34 trillion in 2025, according to preliminary data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

Of the total, 31.89 million tons or 53% were traded by water transport, followed by road transport with 28.28 million tons or 47%, and air transport with  23,726.37 tons or 0.04%.

PSA noted that the preliminary report on domestic trade for 2025 is not comparable with 2024’s 29.997 million tons because previous reports did not include movement through road transport. PSA started including road transport only in its 2025 reports.

For water transport though, the 2025 volume was 6.4% higher than the 29.96 million tons handled in 2024.

Commodities traded through air transport, on the other hand, declined 28% from 32,954.24 tons recorded in 2024.
