PH’s international air cargo, mail rose 7.4% in 2025

  • International air cargo and mail traffic grew 7.4% in 2025 to 477.534 million kilograms from 444.631 million kg in 2024
  • Incoming traffic rose 10.9% to 261.748 million kg while outgoing traffic increased 3.4% to 215.787 million kg
  • For the fourth consecutive year, flag carrier Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and Cathay Pacific were the top three carriers in terms of volumes handled

International air cargo and mail traffic grew 7.4% in 2025 to 477.534 million kilograms (kg) from 444.631 million kg in 2024, according to data from the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB).

Of the total, incoming traffic accounted for 54.8% or 261.748 million kg, 10.9% higher than the 235.927 million kg recorded in 2024.

Outgoing traffic likewise increased 3.4% to 215.787 million kg from 208.704 million kg.

For the fourth consecutive year, flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL), Cebu Pacific, and Hong Kong flag carrier Cathay Pacific have maintained their ranks in terms of volumes carried.

PAL again handled the biggest share to total with 18.3% or 87.308 million kg, 4% higher from the 83.962 million kg it carried in 2024. Prior to the pandemic, though, PAL usually hits more than 100 million kg annually.

Cebu Pacific placed second with 14.3% or 68.396 million kg, up 31.8% from 51.878 million kg in 2024.

Cathay Pacific likewise remained in third place with 27.272 million kg, an increase of 5.1% from 25.949 million kg.

Taiwanese carrier EVA Air improved two places from 2024 to fourth in 2025, handling 24.483 million kg, a 10.3% growth from the 22.187 million kg posted in 2024.

All-cargo airline Air Hong Kong dropped one rank to fifth after carrying 4.8% less cargo at 22.266 million kg.

Also declining one place to sixth was United Arab Emirates flag carrier Emirates, recording 21.295 million kg last year, down 7.2% year-on-year.

After carrying 11.7% more cargoes year-on-year in 2025, flag carrier Singapore Airlines climbed two ranks to seventh with 20.897 million kg.

Transportation and logistics company Federal Express Pacific also improved two places to eight handling 18.2% more cargoes at 20.617 million kg.

Shipping and logistics services firm United Parcel Service Corp. fell two ranks to ninth with 20.034 million kg, a 4.3% decline year-on-year.

Completing the top 10 was flag carrier Qatar Airways, which dropped two places after carrying 9.3% lower cargoes at 17.388 million kg.

The 34 other carriers in the list include the following: Korea Air (5.567 million kg); Japan Airlines (13.547 million kg); China Airlines (12.567 million kg); YTO Cargo Airlines (12.043 million kg); Royal Air Charter Services (11.595 million kg); All Nippon Airways (9.875 million kg); Etihad Airways (9.721 million kg); Thai Airways (8.14 million kg); Turkish Airlines (7.464 million kg); China Southern Airlines (6.201 million kg); Asiana Airlines (5.859 million kg); Oman Air (5.840 million kg); United Airlines (5.1 million kg); Gulf Air (4.904 million kg); Saudi Arabian Airlines (3.764 million kg); Kuwait Airways (2.945 million kg); Malaysia Airlines Berhad (2.139 million kg); Air Canada (1.310 million kg); Qantas Airways (1.281 million kg); Xiamen Airlines (1.022 million kg); Societe Air France (927,498 kg); Starlux Airlines (787,183.70 kg); China Eastern (742,571 kg); Jiangsu Jingdong Cargo Airlines (695,198 kg); PAL Express (674,121.56 kg); Philippines AirAsia (664,133 kg); KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (660,099 kg); Jetstar Asia Airways (600,594 kg); Ethiopian Airlines (364,484.34 kg); Vietnam Airlines (212,924.17 kg); Royal Brunei Airlines (160,952 kg); Air Niugini (155,715.40 kg); Air India Ltd.
