Pierre Carlo Curay is back as president of the Supply Chain Management Association of the Philippines (SCMAP) effective July 1.

Curay, who was previously association vice president, replaces Dennis Llovido, who officially retired from his position in Nestlé Philippines on June 30. SCMAP by-laws require officials to represent a member-company, the association said in a statement.

A decision on the new vacancy in the SCMAP Board of Directors will be announced in due course, SCMAP added.

Representing XVC Logistics, Curay previously served as president from 2021-2022, and held various positions within the SCMAP Board of Directors. During his presidency, which was marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, he strengthened SCMAP’s commitment to nation-building and advocated for a greater role for the supply chain sector in developing the country, the organization noted.

Curay also played a key role in the development of the Deliver-E platform, which addressed various food supply chain issues, with the help of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Agriculture, and United States Agency for International Development. He was among the convenors of Pilipinas Kontra Gutom, a multi-sectoral movement aiming to reduce hunger and address food security, under the leadership of then Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles.

During his leadership at SCMAP, the association continued to gain prominence as the country’s premiere supply chain organization, strengthening linkages with stakeholders in the public and private sectors while also returning to in-person events in 2022.

Apart from his role in XVC Logistics, Curay is founder of InsightSCS, a logistics technology firm, and is a sought-after speaker on supply chain and technology, both in the Philippines and abroad.

Llovido will remain active with SCMAP as a member of the Supply Chain Leaders’ Advisory Council, and will, among others, contribute to the development of the DTI’s Supply Chain and Logistics Center, SCMAP said.
