Atty. Felipe Geoffrey De Vera, district collector of the Bureau of Customs-Port of Cebu, delivered the opening remarks at the event.

In his speech, he called on members of the Cebu Chapter to reflect on their collective journey and to recommit themselves to the deeper purpose behind their work.

“You may not always be seen, and your names may not always make the headlines, but your work is at the very core of how goods move, how businesses grow, and how the everyday lives of Filipinos are sustained,” De Vera said.

He emphasized the shared path walked by the logistics sector and the Bureau of Customs in navigating pressures, making time-sensitive decisions, and upholding systems built on trust and accountability, saying, “Our roles may be different, but our purpose is the same: to ensure that trade flows not just efficiently, but fairly, securely, and with integrity.”

He added, “This profession isn’t only about moving goods across borders, it’s about moving the country forward. That work becomes meaningful when it’s rooted in character and built on collaboration.”
