PMTLAI dangerous goods training program re-certified by IATA

The dangerous goods training program provided by the Philippine Multimodal Transport and Logistics Association, Inc. (PMTLAI) has again been certified by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to be in accordance with its competency-based training and assessment (CBTA) guidelines.

In a Certificate of Accreditation, IATA said PMTLAI’s dangerous goods training has been reviewed and meets the training provision of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulation (DGR) manual Section 1.5. With this, PMTLAI is accredited to conduct training and provide support to establish training in the transport of dangerous goods by air in accordance with the CBTA guidelines.

PMTLAI has been organizing DG seminars for its members and has been tapping IATA experts to provide the training. The regularly updated IATA DGR manual, meanwhile, is a global reference for shipping dangerous goods by air based on the International Civil Aviation Organization’s Technical Instructions.

“This accomplishment is a testament to your organization’s commitment to continuously develop workforce competency and contribute to aviation performance through the delivery of a high quality and effective dangerous goods training program, in accordance with the competency-based training and assessment approach,” IATA said in a letter to PMTLAI.

PMTLAI’s accreditation is CBTA Excellence, which is given to training organizations that offer dangerous training and solutions services to clients. The certification attests that their training design and development methodology and best practices are benchmarked against and meets IATA’s DGR guidelines for the development of CBTA for dangerous goods.

CBTA Excellence is one of the three accreditation programs, the two others being CBTA Corporate and CBTA Provider.

PMTLAI’s CBTA Excellence accreditation is valid from February 1, 2025 to February 1, 2027.

PMTLAI is an organization of freight forwarders and logistics services providers. It is the merged organization of the Philippine International Seafreight Forwarders Association and Aircargo Forwarders of the Philippines, Inc.
