The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) and Manila North Harbour Port, Inc. (MNHPI) will start phase 2 of the NorthPort passenger terminal complex upgrade in January 2025.

The Phase 1 upgrade was completed recently, PPA said in a statement. It includes renovations and additions, such as modernized restrooms and improved departure area for passengers. Three new x-ray baggage inspection units have also been installed to reduce wait times at security checks. This, along with the integration of passenger terminal fee collection with vessel ticket sales, ensures a seamless flow for passengers entering the terminal, PPA said.

The Phase 2 upgrade covers additional projects that will further enhance passenger convenience, such as the modernization of the air-conditioning system, new gang chairs for passenger comfort, a renovation of the concourse area, expanded loading/unloading bays, installation of new charging stations, and improvements to the arrival area.

“We are thrilled to move forward with Phase 2, bringing even more advanced facilities to improve passenger comfort and experience. Our commitment to improving NorthPort continues as we work towards a fully modernized and seamless travel experience,” PPA general manager Jay Daniel Santiago said.

With upcoming enhancements under Phase 2, PPA and MNHPI are committed to continuously improving the port facilities to meet the growing demands of passengers, ensuring that NorthPort remains a modern, efficient, and passenger-friendly gateway, the ports authority said.

The passenger terminal complex is situated at Terminal 2 of NorthPort, which is operated by MNHPI.
