The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is seeking bids for the construction of a dedicated cruise ship port in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro.

In an invitation to bid, PPA said it intends to spend P706.049 million of its 2024 budget for the cruise ship port to be located at Sitio Hondura, Barangay Poblacion, in Puerto Galera.

The project includes construction of a backup area and rock causeway, reinforced concrete trestle, and reinforced concrete pier.

The project must be completed in 780 calendar days from receipt of the notice to proceed.

The project is one of the dedicated cruise ship port projects of PPA in support of the cruise tourism industry and the government’s push to establish the Philippines as a premier hub for cruise tourism in Asia.

The first completed dedicated cruise ship port was the P620.637-million Jubang Cruise Terminal in Siargao.

Several other ongoing cruise ship projects include the P743.978-million cruise ship port in Alegria, Aklan; P418-million cruise ship port in Coron, Palawan; and the P493.897-million cruise ship port in Balbagon, Camiguin.
