Premium Megastructures Inc. (PMI) bagged the P704.549-million contract to construct a dedicated cruise ship port in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro.
The notice of award was issued on February 26, 2025, following a resolution from the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) Bids and Awards Committee dated February 18 awarding the contract to PMI. PMI had been declared the lowest calculated and responsive bidder.
PMI bested 10 other bidders that have submitted their proposals during the opening of bids on February 10.

The project includes the construction of a backup area and rock causeway, reinforced concrete trestle, and reinforced concrete pier at Sitio Hondura, Barangay Polacion, in Puerto Galera. Completion of the project is within 780 calendar days from receipt of the notice to proceed.
The project is one of the dedicated cruise ship port projects of PPA in support of the cruise tourism industry and the government’s push to establish the Philippines as a premier hub for cruise tourism in Asia.
The first completed dedicated cruise ship port was the P620.637 million Jubang Cruise Terminal in Siargao. Several other ongoing cruise ship projects include the P743.978 million port in Alegria, Aklan; P418 million port in Coron, Palawan; and P493.897 million port in Balbagon, Camiguin.
In 2024, PPA ports handled 134,742 cruise ship passengers, 53% higher than the 88,080 passengers recorded in 2023.
