Qantas has announced a direct service from Manila to Brisbane beginning October 28, 2024.

This marks the first time in over a decade that the Australian national carrier will operate flights between these two cities.

The new service will run four times a week using Airbus A330 aircraft. This addition will supplement Qantas’ existing daily service to Sydney, increasing the total number of seats between the Philippines and Australia by more than 100,000 annually.

“The Philippines is a very important part of our Asia network, so we’re pleased to be growing with a new route to Australia,” said Qantas International CEO Cam Wallace in a statement. “This new connection will strengthen business links between our two countries and make it easier for Filipinos to visit family and friends living in Queensland, as well as offering a new gateway for travelers to explore the region.”

Wallace added, “We know large numbers of our customers have been traveling between Manila and Brisbane via our existing Sydney service, which gives us great confidence about how this route will perform when flights start.”

The new flights will feature Qantas’ A330 aircraft, equipped with 27 business class suites arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, each offering direct aisle access and converting into a lie-flat bed.

Additionally, Qantas announced plans to accelerate the rollout of “fast and free” Wi-Fi across its international fleet, including the A330 aircraft. This service will be introduced progressively on flights between Manila and Australia starting next year.
