The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Manila North Tollways Corp (MNTC) recently broke ground on the Radial Road 10 (R-10) section of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Harbor Link Segment 10 project, which is expected to help decongest EDSA and other major roads in Metro Manila.

The 2.6-kilometer R-10 section is the continuation of the 5.7-kilometer Segment 10, an elevated expressway passing through MacArthur Highway in Valenzuela City, Governor Pascual Avenue in Malabon City, and C3 Road/5th Avenue in Caloocan City.

The NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 project is designed to provide direct access between the port area and the northern provinces of Luzon via NLEX.

DPWH said the infrastructure work will decongest Metro Manila by offering an alternative entry to NLEX, bypassing EDSA and other busy streets in Metro Manila.

DPWH said that with the project completion set in December 2018, motorists only need about 10 minutes going from the port to NLEX. Cargo trucks will also have 24/7 access from the ports to their destinations in the north and south since NLEX is not covered by truck ban.
