RCL announces maiden voyage of Jira Bhum

Regional Container Lines (RCL) recently announced the delivery and maiden voyage of the Jira Bhum.

The new ship set sail for Shanghai Guandong International Container Terminal  enroute Ningbo.

The Jira Bhum is a 7,000 twenty-foot equivalent unit vessel equipped with ESD (energy saving devices) such as pre-shrouded vanes, which help cut Co2 emission and fuel consumption by up to 3%.

The vessel was christened on Dec. 10, 2024 at Jiangsu New Hantong Ship Heavy Industry Co. Ltd. It was constructed by the Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Yard.

Earlier, RCL received three sister vessels to Jira Bhum, namely Guru Bhum, Hemma Bhum, and Itthi Bhum.

Gracing the ship launch was Police General Adik Sangsingkeo with Aranya Sangsinkeo as sponsor.

Also present were representatives from RCL’s senior management team comprising Dr.Jamlong Atikul Chaiman, Sumate Tanthuwanit, chairman of the executive committee and Twinchok Tanthuwanit, president of RCL.

Also last December, RCL received the Varanya Bhum, the last of four 12,000 TEUs. The first service was named RCG service.
