SAKO Pilipinas, Inc. has opened a new 1,000-square-meter facility at the Cavite Economic Zone, expanding its production capacity for sustainable packaging products.
The facility’s inauguration on October 6 was led by SAKO Pilipinas CEO Erny Yu with Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) director general Tereso Panga.
The expansion is expected to boost the company’s output, which currently exceeds 22 million packaging units annually, supporting local industries with reliable and sustainable packaging solutions.
SAKO Pilipinas, a subsidiary of Hong Kong SSG Limited established in 2006, manufactures woven polypropylene and paper sacks used for rice, fertilizer, feeds, detergents, and other industrial goods. The company also incorporates recycled sacks and packaging materials in its production, underscoring its commitment to environmentally responsible manufacturing.
In his remarks, Panga lauded the company’s contribution to local manufacturing and its emphasis on sustainability.
“Your company’s core business – the manufacture of woven polypropylene sacks and paper sacks – literally carry the weight of many industries. You are an essential partner in keeping our industries and our daily lives moving,” Panga was quoted in a press release.
“(As) we evolve and adopt sustainability, I hope that as you continue to expand, you shall be partners with us in this effort and challenge of securing the resilience, viability, and longevity not only of your business but also of the ecozone industry and environment,” he added.
For his part, Yu said the new facility reflects the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.
“This new facility underscores our commitment to provide reliable and tailored packaging solutions that support the country’s manufacturing sector,” Yu said. “SAKO Pilipinas combines global expertise with a local, sustainable approach to ensure that our packaging solutions meet what the local market needs.”
PEZA said the project highlights its continuing push to “ecozone” the country through sustainable industrial development while promoting the spirit of “Gawang Pilipino, Para sa Pilipino.”
