Subic Bay International Terminals (SBITC) facilitated the handling of the remotely operated vehicle (ROV) Hydros in preparation for transport to Oriental Mindoro.

The ROV, along with other support equipment, were loaded on the anchor handling vessel Pacific Valkryie and will be deployed to assist in ongoing oil containment and recovery operations of the oil spill from a tanker that sunk in the waters of Mindoro, International Container Terminal Services, Inc (ICTSI) said in a statement. ICTSI is SBITC’s mother company. SBITC operates the New Container Terminals 1 and 2 at the Port of Subic.

The MT Princess Empress was loaded with 900,000 liters of industrial oil when it sank off Naujan in Oriental Mindoro on Feb. 28, causing an oil spill from its cargo.
