Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) toll fees will rise from October 17, following provisional approval of the rate hike by the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB).

The TRB and North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Corp., which operates SCTEX, have agreed to implement an additional ₱0.64 per kilometer in three phases over three years.

The new rates are part of the authorized SCTEX periodic adjustment due in 2021 and 2023, and were approved following proper regulatory procedures and thorough review by the TRB, NLEX said in a statement.

In a letter dated October 6, NLEX Corp. informed TRB of its intention to begin collecting the first tranche on October 17 based on these rates:

  • Motorists traveling between Tarlac City to Mabalacat (Pampanga) with Class 1, 2, and 3 vehicles will pay an additional P25, P50, and P75, respectively.
  • Motorists traveling between Mabalacat and Tipo, Hermosa Bataan, with Class 1 vehicles shall pay an additional P40; Class 2 at P81; and Class 3 at P121.
  • Those traveling end to end from Tipo Hermosa, Bataan to Tarlac City will pay an additional P65 for Class 1; P131 for Class 2; and P196 for Class 3.

The new rates were approved in August this year, but SCTEX decided to defer implementation to October as it will heighten inflation further.

From 2020 to 2022, NLEX Corp. said it undertook numerous infrastructure and enhancement projects to improve motorists’ safety and convenience while traveling the SCTEX.

These projects includes upgrades to roadway lights and signage; maintenance and toll plaza improvement works; pavement replacement and crack sealing; guardrail and fence repairs; RFID system enhancements; toll systems upgrades; the Dinalupihan road raising project; and repairs to the Porac Gumain, San Matias, and Pasig Potrero bridges.
