The Quirino southbound exit of Skyway Stage 3 is now open to Class 1 vehicles, allowing motorists coming from Balintawak and Quezon Avenue to directly reach Manila within less than 20 minutes without traffic, down from the current 1.5 hours.

San Miguel Corp. (SMC) president and chief operating officer Ramon Ang in a statement during the opening on May 24 said the Quirino southbound exit will improve accessibility between Quezon City and Manila.

“With more private vehicles diverted to Skyway Stage 3 on their way back from NLEX [North Luzon Expressway], or coming from Quezon Ave., to Manila, traffic on our major public roads as well as on streets usually utilized as ‘short cuts’ or ‘alternate routes’, will be a thing of the past,” Ang said.

SMC, which built and fully funded and Skyway Stage 3, said the elevated expressway now has 15 operational ramps:

Northbound Entry/On-Ramps:

  • Buendia (Zobel)
  • Quezon Avenue

Southbound Entry/On-Ramps:

  • Balintawak
  • Quezon Avenue
  • Plaza Dilao

Northbound Exit/Off-Ramps:

  • Quirino Avenue
  • Nagtahan
  • Quezon Avenue
  • Bonifacio
  • Balintawak

Southbound Exit/Off-Ramps:

  • Quezon Avenue
  • Rodriguez
  • Nagtahan
  • Quirino
  • Buendia (Zobel)

The Skyway Stage 3, formally opened last January, connects Buendia and Balintawak.

A fully completed Skyway Stage 3 will divert at least 75,000 vehicles away from EDSA or C5.

The Skyway system, comprised of stages 1, 2 and 3, is a 38-kilometer elevated expressway with 36 on- and off-ramp access points.
