American carrier Southwest Airlines and Philippine Airlines (PAL) have partnered for interline services that allow customers to book connecting flights in key US gateways.
Under the agreement announced on November 4, PAL customers will now be able to connect to Southwest-operated flights through Los Angeles, Seattle/Tacoma, San Francisco, and Honolulu.
“Each airline partnership brings unique and incremental reach to places around the globe for both carriers and gives more consumers an opportunity to begin or end their journey with Southwest,” said Andrew Watterson, chief operating officer of Southwest Airlines.
Southwest is California’s largest air carrier and operates nearly 90 daily flights that touch the Hawaiian Islands, Watterson highlighted.
“Southwest is positioned like no other airline in serving Philippine Airlines’ passengers arriving or departing the United States,” he said.
PAL vice president of revenue management, Christoph Gaertner, described the arrangement as a way to expand PAL’s global footprint. “Our interline partnership with Southwest Airlines enables seamless connections and single‐ticket journeys across both of our networks.”
“As we continue to expand PAL’s global reach, this collaboration provides more travel options and greater flexibility, giving our guests access to a wider range of destinations in the United States,” Gaertner said.

Southwest currently counts PAL as its fourth international airline partner, along with Icelandair, China Airlines, and EVA Air, and is actively exploring additional agreements for transatlantic expansion later this year.
The airline will also introduce a redesigned cabin experience and new seating options, like extra legroom, starting January 27, 2026.
Southwest Airlines Co., founded in 1971, operates at 117 airports across 11 countries and is recognized globally for its low-cost, high-frequency service model.
Philippine Airlines, the country’s flag carrier and Asia’s first commercial airline, operates a full-service network with a fleet of Boeing, Airbus, and De Havilland aircraft. From its major hubs in Manila, Cebu, Clark, and Davao, the airline flies to 31 domestic points and 38 international destinations across Asia, North America, Australia, and the Middle East.
Beyond passenger services, PAL contributes to global trade through air cargo and charter operations, catering to overseas Filipinos, business travelers, and tourists worldwide.
