DOTC_CLARK_facadePresident Benigno Aquino III has appointed his second cousin, Emigdio Tanjuatco III, as the new president and chief executive officer of Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC).

Tanjuatco will replace Victor Jose Luciano, who has been appointed member of the Civil Aeronautics Board after 13 years on the CIAC board.

Aquino approved last month Tanjuatco’s nomination to the post, according to the appointment papers signed August 27 by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa, Jr.

Tanjuatco, along with Alipio Fernandez Jr. and Ramil Guiao, was also appointed member of the CIAC board of directors. His membership is in effect until June 30, 2015.

CIAC oversees Clark International Airport, formerly called Diosdado Macapagal International Airport and located within the Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga.

Tanjuatco is the son of former Rizal congressman Emigdio Sumulong-Tanjuatco, Jr., first cousin on the maternal side of the late President Corazon Aquino, President Aquino’s mother.

Tanjuatco was admitted to the Philippine bar in 1996 and was an elected provincial board member of Rizal from 2010 to 2013.
