The Bureau of Customs-Port of Batangas (BOC-POB) named Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation its top importer for calendar year 2025, leading a roster dominated by automotive and fuel companies.

The recognition was made during a meeting with key industry partners under the Customs Industry Consultative and Advisory Council (CICAC) on March 12, BOC-Batangas announced in news release.

BOC-POB district collector Carmelita Talusan convened the CICAC meeting, bringing together major trade stakeholders for a recognition ceremony, policy briefings on the latest customs issuances, and consultations aimed at strengthening trade facilitation and sustaining revenue collection.

Toyota topped the port’s Top 10 Importers list, followed by Shell Pilipinas Corporation and Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation. Rounding out the rankings were Unioil Petroleum Philippines, Ford Group Philippines, Chevron Philippines, South Premiere Power Corp., BYD Philippines Corp., Nissan Philippines, and Suzuki Philippines, all cited for their compliance record and contribution to the port’s revenue generation.

Toyota senior vice president for comptrollership Dennis Escuro accepted the recognition on behalf of the automaker and pointed to the broader significance of the ranking.

“This achievement is not ours alone; it is a testament to the strong partnership we share with the Bureau of Customs-Port of Batangas. We are proud to contribute significantly to this Port and the Country’s revenue collection, which serves as an engine for our economy,” Escuro said.

He added: “As the momentum of Philippine motorization continues, we fully support the BOC-POB’s initiatives and programs on supply chain security, trade speed-up, standardization, and technological upgrades.”

The automotive sector’s collective voice at the meeting was led by Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) president Jose Maria Atienza, who credited the CICAC platform with heading off costly disruptions to industry operations.

“We are honored to be part of the POB-Customs Industry Consultative Advisory Council. This platform, under the leadership of District Collector Talusan, has been very helpful in managing issues that could have caused operational delays and financial losses to the automotive industry,” Atienza said.

Talusan framed the engagement within the bureau’s broader modernization agenda, saying the port’s outreach to industry partners is designed to advance Customs commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno’s Integrity, Accountability, and Modernization or IAM program, “towards a more responsive, transparent, and efficient customs administration,” the district collector said.
