- Vivencio “Vince” Dizon has been appointed as the next secretary of the Department of Transportation effective February 21

Vivencio “Vince” Dizon has been appointed as the next secretary of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) effective February 21, 2025, according to Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.
“He is already authorized by the Office of the President to start the transition at the DOTr in coordination with the team of Secretary Jaime Bautista, who has resigned due to health reasons,” Bersamin told media in a Viber message.
In a separate statement, DOTr said Bautista thanked Marcos for the opportunity to work in government, which he “considered his most challenging stint”, and also his “most enriching, having served with utmost integrity.”
“Sec. Bautista looks forward to a smooth transition, after which a much needed vacation to recuperate from two and a half years of intense public service,” DOTr added.
Bautista has been transport secretary since 2022.
Dizon served as president and chief executive officer of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) from 2016 to 2021.
He also served as the presidential adviser on the flagship program and projects during the term of former president Rodrigo Duterte. He was deputy chief implementer of the National Action Plan Against COVID-19, chief testing czar, and the chief coordinator of the Test, Trace, Treat Program, also during the previous administration.
Prior to these appointments, he was a consultant of then Senate Majority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano (2013-2016); undersecretary for political affairs of the Office of the President of the Republic of the Philippines (2011-2013); vice president for corporate communications for Strategic Alliance Holdings Inc. – Technologies (2007-2011); and chief of staff of the Office of Senator Edgardo Angara (2002-2004).
He served in the academe as senior lecturer in economics, finance and statistics at the University of Northern Virginia in Prague, Czech Republic (2005-2007); assistant professor of economics and research associate (1999-2002) and lecturer of economics and finance (1996-1998) at the De La Salle University (DLSU). He also worked as an economics research staff for the Senate of the Philippines.
He obtained his degrees in Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Bachelor of Science in Commerce major in Management of Financial Institutions from De La Salle University.
He was a Chevening Scholarship awardee in 1998 and obtained his Master of Science in Applied Development Studies from the University of Reading in the United Kingdom.
