The Bureau of Customs has two new deputy commissioners — Atty. Arnel Alambra for Revenue Collection Monitoring Group and Atty. Revsee Escobedo, for the Management Information Systems and Technology Group.
Alambra replaced Atty Clarence Dizon while Escobedo took the place of Ronnel Hombre.
Also appointed were Fernandino Tuason and Atty. Victor Pablo Trinidad as directors III.
They all took their oath of office before Finance Secretary Ralph Recto on August 19.
“Their appointments mark a step forward in strengthening the Bureau’s leadership team as it continues to pursue reforms in revenue collection, digitalization, and improved customs processes,” BOC said in a statement.
Prior to his appointment in BOC, Alambra was chief legal counsel of the Government Service Insurance System since 2023 and was with The Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corp. since 2012. He holds degrees in law and in political science from the University of the Philippines.
Escobedo, meanwhile, was undersecretary for governance and field operations at the Department of Education since 2019 and assistant secretary at the same department from 2016. He also worked as chief of staff at the Senate and House of Representatives. He holds a masters of public administration degree from UP.
Tuason and Trinidad, meanwhile, had previously held positions in BOC. Tuason has been with BOC for years and handled various positions, including head of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service and director at the Post-Clerance Audit Group.
Trinidad was previously chief of staff at the Assessment of Operations Coordinating Group and was assistant general manager at the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.
