A shipment of humanitarian aid from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 on July 30 aboard a FlyPro Cargo flight (PVV6451).

The aid package, intended for Filipinos affected by Typhoon Carina (international name: Gaemi) and the intensified southwest monsoon (habagat), included 2,464 packs of essential food items such as milk powder, wheat flour, tea powder, rice, cooking oil, red lentils, peas, dates, juice, oats, tomato paste, sugar, and salt.

Additionally, the UAE government provided 4,928 packs of pasta and other basic food supplies.

Special Envoy to the UAE for Trade and Investments Ma. Anna Kathryna Yu-Pimentel expressed gratitude to the UAE leadership, including UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and UAE Ambassador to the Philippines Mohamed Obaid Alqattam Alzaabi.

She highlighted that the UAE’s donation reflects the strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s administration and also noted that the recent visit of First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos to the UAE further solidified these ties.

Present at the arrival of the humanitarian aid were the UAE Ambassador to the Philippines, Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr., Department of Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rex Gatchalian, Department of Finance Assistant Secretary Dakila Napao, and Atty. Yasmin Mapa of the Bureau of Customs-NAIA.
