Vietnam Airlines will have direct flights connecting Manila to both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City starting June 17, 2024.

The move positions the airline as the first Vietnamese carrier to offer direct air links to the Philippine capital.

The direct flights will operate as follows:

– Manila-Hanoi: Three weekly flights will be available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

– Manila-Ho Chi Minh City: Four weekly flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Vietnam Airlines will deploy Airbus A321-200 aircraft for both routes.

Some flights are under code-sharing agreement between Vietnam Airlines and Philippine Airlines, specifically:

– VN3947 MNL-HAN (Hanoi): Operated by PAL (codeshare)

– VN646 MNL-HAN: Operated by Vietnam Airlines

– VN3941 MNL-SGN (Ho Chi Minh City): Operated by PAL (codeshare)

“This milestone not only expands our global flight network but also strengthens economic and diplomatic ties by linking Manila to the capital city of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City – the leading economic centers in Southeast Asia,” the Vietnamese carrier said in a statement.

The flights are poised to stimulate tourism and trade by providing enhanced accessibility to Vietnam’s cultural sites and economic centers.

Vietnam Airlines had earlier said the flights were set to start in December 2023.
