The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is seeking bidders to restore damaged facilities at Tagbilaran port in Bohol caused by typhoon Odette in 2021.

In a bid bulletin, PPA said it intends to apply P36.170 million of its 2024 budget for the contract to restore damaged facilities, including fastcraft berth 1, covered walkway, and port lighting system.

The Bohol port was one of the 160 ports nationwide that sustained damages from the onslaught of typhoon Odette, the strongest typhoon to enter the Philippine area of responsibility in 2021 that battered the Visayas, Mindanao, and parts of Luzon. The typhoon also damaged 24 airports, according to the Department of Transportation.

Bidders should have completed a contract similar to the project. Completion of the project is set for 300 days upon receipt of the winning bidder of the notice to proceed.

Bidding will be conducted through an open competitive procedure using a non-discretionary “pass/fail” criterion as specified in the implementing rules and regulations of Republic Act No. 9814 or the Government Procurement Reform Act.

A pre-bid conference is set on June 27 and the deadline of submission of bids as well as the opening of bids is on July 16.

The baseport of Tagbilaran handles domestic and foreign cargoes, and was one of the top 10 ports in 2023 in terms of passenger traffic.

In 2022, PPA awarded the 15-year port terminal management contract for Tagbilaran port to the joint venture of Globalport Terminals, Inc. and Globalport Ozamiz Terminal, Inc.
